altar

This is inside of a matchbox. I'm still on this real personal kick--working out my iconography, visually representing my goals.

This is the base for the altar.
and this is the back. It's a quote from the last pages of Hunter S. Thompson's Hell's Angels, which is one of my top three favourite books.
To me it's talking about the triangle of fear, freedom, and adrenaline.

I'm sort of in the process of "thingfinding" the rest: making mini candles, maybe tiny scrolls, baby bird feathers, blossoms...

I discovered this store on Hollywood Blvd. today called Wacko and it's this huge store full of things I love. It's definitely stuff you're going to have trouble finding other places. For example, this is my wishlist from my trip there:
• this book Narcisa by Jonathan Shaw,

• My Freedamn! 4 Hippie Rags Issue (and the other books in that series, too.)

• a tiny Rat Fink patch
• Coyote knuckle bones 10 for $7.50!
• on that note, got to get a jewelry drill still... UNIVERSE: send me income!
• infinite amount of Tiki paraphenalia
• coolest postcards ON EARTH
• these beautiful Mexican paper decorations, layers of fringed cut paper in different shapes with an image in the middle. I mean, I could make that, I guess.

I'm also definitely going to get back into embroidery because I flipped through the Nudie (suits) book at that store and it was super inspirational.
